Jeff Sotelo

Name: Jeff Sotelo
Program: Human Resources
Position: Human Resources Analyst

First Job: Pulling a lawnmower behind my bicycle and mowing lawns when I was 11 years old.

Birthplace: California

Years at FCEOC: Coming up on two years.

Best advice ever received: To manage by fact.

Favorite advice I give: Success is a choice; only you can make the best choices for yourself that will lead to your personal, family, and business success.

Favorite food: Sushi; Filet Mignon; Pinot Noir.

Proudest moment: When my daughter gave birth to my first grandchild; when my son graduated basic training from the United States Marine Corps.

Greatest personal accomplishment: Raising my two children to adulthood.

Best vacation I’ve taken/dream vacation: My best vacation was a week in Montreal and Quebec City; my dream vacation would be to explore South East Asia.

Favorite weekend activity: Hiking; sporting events; taking in cultural events.

Scariest experience: During my son’s first tour of duty, when his Marine unit crossed into Iraq on the first day of Iraq Freedom, and not knowing where he was or what kind of danger he was in.

If I had a million dollars I would… be a very happy man!!

Favorite place to shop: It was Tower Records up until they closed.

Favorite childhood memory: During my free spirited teenage years, when I would grab my backpack and hitchhike to Yosemite (when hitchhiking was safe).

I like to watch: Hockey, baseball, football.

In my spare time… I enjoy my grandkids, listening to music, and enjoying a cold one with my friends while taking in a game.

If I’ve learned one thing in life, it is… to always try to maintain a positive outlook on life, while keeping in mind that everything happens for a reason. It takes more energy to dwell on the negative than to embrace the positive.
