Head Start
Literacy/Transition Specialist
First Job: First Job: I was 17 yrs old and
tutored grade school children.
Birthplace: Madera, California
Years at FCEOC: Almost three years.
Best advice ever received: I was in a mentoring
program in college. My mentor told me to travel. Travel as
much as you can to see the world. To this day I try and travel.
There is so much beauty in the world waiting for us to enjoy.
Favorite advice I give: Enjoy your life,
stop worrying about the things you don’t have and enjoy
what you do have.
Favorite restaurant, dish, or pig-out food:
I really enjoy eating at Splash Restaurant in Pismo (Clam
Chowder in a bread bowl) the best. Also, I have to have my
Sushi at Sushi ‘n’ Pop.
Proudest moment: Wow, definitely when my
son Bryce was born and almost two years later Sierra was born.
Greatest personal accomplishment: Receiving
my B.A. in Psychology. I can still see my dad running down
those steep stairs at the football stadium calling me. He
reached over the fence and he gave me the biggest hug and
kiss. His happiness was better than the degree.
Best vacation I’ve taken/dream vacation:
Best vacation was when we visited the Black Forest, Germany
and France.
Favorite weekend activity: My husband and
I like to take our children hiking, biking, and they are learning
to play tennis. Bryce is pretty good for being three.
Last good movie I saw: I’m a mom I
don’t get to see a movie or if I did I don’t get
to finish it. Ok, I won’t be too drama. Last movie was
Spiderman Three.
Scariest experience: Riding an ATV and my
nephew told me not to slow down on a hill or I would get stuck.
I ended up flying in the air doing the superman!
If I had a million dollars I would…
Pay off our home and my family’s homes and send my children
to college.
Favorite place to shop: Gilroy outlets
Favorite childhood memory: Myself and my
four other siblings would lie outside on sleeping bags and
look up at the stars. We would look for falling stars and
tell stories.
Words that describe me best: Jack of all
Trades (I like to do many different things), good listener,
and trustworthy.
I like to watch: Grey's Anatomy
In my spare time… I like to expose
my children to new things around them. Living out in the country
helps.
If I’ve learned one thing in life, it is…
It is so important to make time for all your family. Even
if it is for an hour with your mom or other family member.
Make it quality time, because believe me they could be snatched
up in a moment.
