Family Development

First Job: At a very young age my father would take us to work in farm labor. When I was seventeen, I applied for a job at Bayly Corporation and, by the grace of God, I was hired as an Inspector. I was employed there for four years.

Birthplace: I was born in Fowler.

Years at EOC: I was hired as a Family Assistant in August of 1995 and, in 2003, I was hired as a Family Development Specialist at Early Head Start; it's been 13½ years since I have been with EOC.

Best Advice I ever received: “Pray and seek wise counsel before making any decision.”

Favorite Advice I give: I love to encourage others to seek God and to get an education. I firmly believe that if you do both of these you will gain great knowledge and faith, both which can never be taken away.

Favorite Restaurant: Fuzios at River Park

Proudest moment: I have had several very proud moments however the one that is most memorable to me is when my children gave their life to Christ.

Greatest accomplishment: I decided to quit high school because I was being bullied by a girl; this devastated me because I loved school. I received my GED the day I should have graduated; then, years later, I went to San Joaquin Valley College and got a certificate as a medical assistant. I wanted more in life so I decided to go back to college and in 2002 I earned my AA.

However my most important accomplishment was giving my life to Christ. Because, like the scripture says, what would I gain if I conquered the world and lost my soul.

Best Vacation I have taken: Spending the weekend in a beach house in Moro Bay with my family and visiting my daughter in Seattle. It was a great experience traveling to Seattle on Amtrak, the scenery was awesome and my two younger children had a great time.

Favorite weekend activity: I enjoy going to church, taking my six year old son and grandson to Woodward Park and I really like going to watch movies at River Park.

Last good movie I saw : Fireproof

If I had a million dollars I would … divide it between my four kids and buy them each a home. (Since the price of homes went down I would be able to buy them each a modest and descent home)

Favorite place to shop: River Park and I love going to second hand stores.

Scariest experience: when my son asked me to please rush because he had been in a car accident

Favorite childhood memory: waking up to homemade flour tortillas that my mom made and shopping for school clothes

Words that best describe me: caring, happy and easy going

I like to watch: movies on Lifetime (however I rarely watch TV)

In my spare time I … enjoy gardening and barbecuing with my family.

If I learned one thing in life it is … life is very short and the only thing we will leave behind is our memories, therefore spend lots of quality time with your loved ones and treasure the short time that has been given to us on earth by God. I have learned that without God we are nothing. Like the scripture says we should lean on His word and not on our understanding.
