First Job: When I was 15, on Saturday mornings I cleaned house for a lady who collected antiques.
Birthplace: Fresno
Years at EOC: Since August 2009, but I have worked with the Sanctuary and the TLC for about nine years, assisting the homeless through my work at the Fresno Madera Continuum of Care.
Best advice ever received: “Don’t dwell on the woulda, shoulda and coulda.”
Favorite advice I give: To my male students: “Pull up your pants, nobody should have to look at that.”
Favorite restaurant, dish, or pig-out food: Sushi, sushi and sushi.
Proudest moment: giving birth to my son
Greatest personal accomplishment: having my son see me graduate from college
Best vacation I’ve taken/dream vacation: Las Vegas for my honeymoon with my husband who had never been. It was a blast because of all of the great sights.
Favorite weekend activity: Taking spontaneous drives with my husband and six year old son.
Last good movie I saw: Avatar
Scariest experience: When I couldn’t find my son, he was three and had gone out the front door without telling me and was in the neighbor’s yard, but did not come when I called him. There was road work going on in front of the house with huge pits, I thought he had fallen into or someone had taken him. That is the scariest feeling, losing a child.
If I had a million dollars I would … try to make a difference in my community and show my son that charity begins at home.
Favorite place to shop: Freebird in the Tower District or Trader Joe’s
Favorite childhood memory: Camping with my family.
Words that describe me best: Loud, outgoing, caring, mothering, sarcastic
I like to watch: Saving Grace, Bones, House, CSI, True Blood, 30 Rock, The Office
In my spare time … I spend time enjoying experiences with my son and trying to see life from my son’s point of view.
If I’ve learned one thing in life, it is… think before you speak, or at least I need to work on that the most.
