| The Sanctuary Youth Shelter is gearing up for the grand unveiling of its recently renovated rooms and invites you to see them first hand during December’s ArtHop at the Sanctuary this Thursday, December 4, from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
“It’s been a lot of work but well worth the effort,” says Shelter Manager Jody Ketcheside. “Each room has its own identity and feels completely different from the room next door. There are various themes including: under the sea, beach, hockey, football, and camping.”
Earlier this year, the Sanctuary Youth Shelter initiated its “Room Adoption Project” – a beautification project where a room, sponsored by a business or individual, was painted and redecorated with a youth-friendly theme; rooms in the 20-bed facility boast murals created by local artists.
“Being part of ArtHop allows us to not only showcase the new rooms, but educate the public on our services to youth in crisis,” adds Ketcheside.
ArtHop, a monthly event put on by the Fresno Arts Council, gives local artists the opportunity to showcase their work at various venues throughout Fresno. ArtHop at the Sanctuary will feature murals by Jose Lopez, Sarah Worthen, Ryan Puckett, and Eric Gonzalez, as well as the work of interior designer Carol Velez.
The Sanctuary is located at 1545 “N” Street in downtown Fresno.
