Recycle, Reduse, Reuse -
Celebrate Earth Day '09

April 22 is Earth Day! Celebrate our wonderful home, Earth, by recycling, reducing and reusing! It’s easy, it’s free, and best of all, you’re helping to keep our environment clean and healthy for generations to come.

Go green at work. Turn off lights in rooms that are not being used; place paper waste, glass, bottles, and cans in the blue containers provided by our Local Conservation Corps’ Recycling program; print only when necessary; carpool; minimize the use of plastic utensils, Styrofoam plates, and paper cups by bring in a set from home; and, at the end of the day, make sure you shut off your computer (computers on stand-by mode still use a small amount of energy).

At home, dry clean dishes with a cloth towel instead of paper towels, use cloth bags for groceries, and use containers for leftovers instead of plastic bags or aluminum foil. Keep a special recycling bin near your trash can -- it’s a constant reminder to recycle!

Live in the City of Fresno but aren’t sure what can be placed in your blue bin? Below are lists of both recyclable and non-recyclable items.
