| Western Fresno County residents have something to cheer about. There will be a series of food distributions on the west side in the months to come thanks to a generous donation to our Agency’s Crisis Relief Fund.
During a news conference yesterday, Westlands Water District’s General Manager Tom Birmingham presented our Executive Director, Roger Palomino, with a check for $22,000. Mr. Birmingham also made a personal donation of $1,000. The contributions allow us to purchase enough food from the Community Food Bank to feed 1,000 western Fresno County families who have lost their jobs or have been adversely affected by the drought and economic downturn.
Established in 2008, our Crisis Relief Fund helps Fresno County residents affected by natural disasters. It is operated by our Agency and counseled by an advisory committee comprised of concerned citizens and city officials from impacted communities. Donations can be made online at www.eoccrisisrelieffund.org. |
