| Babies and toddlers on the west side whose parents lost their jobs due to the water crisis have something to smile about. The congregation at Kerman Covenant Church has donated over 12,000 diapers and baby wipes to be distributed during upcoming food distributions.
“The congregation felt compelled to help these families after hearing stories of mothers washing and recycling disposable diapers because they simply could not afford new diapers,” says our Rural Liaison Gabriela Romero.
In one month, the congregation collected 6,240 baby wipes and 6,260 diapers in sizes ranging from newborn to 5. The donation was presented to our Executive Director, Roger Palomino, and Rural Liaison, Gabriela Romero, during last Sunday’s worship service.
Donating to west Fresno County families is nothing new to the congregation at Kerman Covenant Church. In April, the congregation collected over 5,000 pounds of beans, rice and canned goods to be distributed to 200 needy families. They also gathered over $6,500 to purchase perishable and nonperishable food items for food distributions.
