Our Local Conservation Corps, in partnership with YouthBuild Charter School of California (YCSC), will be opening Fresno’s newest charter school for young adults ages 18 – 24. The school will be temporarily housed at the LCC Stanislaus Street site while construction is being completed on the modular classrooms at our Neighborhood Youth Center. YCSC will give young adult students an alternative to the traditional high school/adult school. Students who are co-enrolled in LCC’s YouthBuild program will also learn job skills in the construction industry.
LCC has operated a YouthBuild program since 1995, with over 300 students successfully completing the program. YouthBuild students receive training and certifications in a variety of construction skills, participate in leadership activities, and engage in community service and career preparation activities. All students are encouraged to attend post-secondary education and are prepared to meet the academic challenges of higher education.
YCSC is supported by YouthBuild USA as a part of the organization's effort to continue to improve educational outcomes for YouthBuild participants.
Enrollment forms can be picked up 1371 Stanislaus. For more information call Al Boyd at 263-8930. |
