| More than 70 Foster Grandparent Volunteers gathered last week for the program’s monthly in-service. The group had tons to celebrate this February – including Valentine’s Day, African-American History Month, and their very own Grandma Curtis’ upcoming travels to northern California where she will receive the California Wellness Foundation Senior Community Leader and Lifetime Achievement awards.
The auditorium at Twilight Haven buzzed with energy and excitement when King Elementary School’s African-American Dance Troupe performed upbeat musical numbers. Volunteers clapped, sang, and danced along to traditional inspirational songs.
The guest of honor, Grandma Emma Curtis, was unable to attend; however, she was truly present in spirit! Look forward to an upcoming article, which will feature more about Grandma Curtis’ trip along with an account of the award ceremony festivities.
Congratulations Grandma Curtis. Wishing you safe travels!
