February 25, 2010 is
Roger Palomino Day

Roger Palomino, our former Executive Director, together with Council woman Cynthia Sterling and Fresno City Assistant Manager Bruce Rudd, stood before Fresno’s leaders to accept a proclamation recognizing his work and contributions to our community. The proclamation, read during Thursday’s Fresno City Council meeting, named February 25, 2010, Roger Palomino Day in the City of Fresno.

Mr. Palomino was honored for his involvement in community issues dating back to initial school desegregation and affirmative action; work as former Director of Juvenile Court Institutions and former Director of Juvenile Probation Services for the Fresno County Probation Department; and for spearheading a number of programs as our Agency’s Executive Director including Valley Community Action Partnership, our Rural Communities Collaborative of Fresno County, and School of Unlimited Learning.

Humbled by the gesture, Mr. Palomino thanked city council members saying his efforts throughout the years could not have been possible without strong leaders. “I thank you for your hard work and for making Fresno the great, diverse city it is today,” he said. “EOC could not have been as successful without the support of Fresno’s leaders.”

Councilmembers Blong Xiong and Henry T. Perea personally thanked Mr. Palomino for being voice for voiceless and an agent for change over the past 40 years.

Congratulations Mr. Palomino! Enjoy your special day!
