The road hasn’t been easy for participants in our Transitional Living Center program, but they sure have taken huge strides in changing their lives. Late last month, 36 TLC participants celebrated their accomplishments during TLC’s quarterly Recognition Dinner. The dinner acknowledges participants who have enrolled in college or other education programs, obtained a job, or completed community service projects, to name a few. Of the 36 attendees, 18 residents received Certificates of Achievement for moving up a phase in the program.
The event also paid tribute to African-American History Month. After dinner, which was catered by DiCicco’s Restaurant, TLC residents from each site competed against each other in a game of trivia: identifying the historic accomplishments of some of the most famous African-Americans. TLC 1 won the trivia game and possession of the trophy until the next event.
In addition to games, TLC participants had the opportunity to enter a raffle; two lucky winners walked away with computers donated by International Boxing Association World Champion, Jenifer Alcorn.
Congratulations to all TLC participants for investing in yourselves and your future!
