| Noah Turner, son of Employment and Training’s Assistant Director Patrick Turner, was given USA Freedom Corps’ President’s Gold Award for Volunteerism during an awards luncheon at Fremont Elementary in Fowler. Noah was recognized for donating over 100 hours of community service.
“My son is a little trash picker,” jokes Patrick. “He collects bottles and cans at home, after youth sporting events, and here in our own (Employment and Training) office. He uses the money to help out those in need.”
Noah’s great acts of kindness include donating new coats to Bonadelle Neighborhoods’ Warming the Hearts of Those in Need coat drive, buying Christmas stocking for kids attending the United Cerebral Palsy Christmas Party, donating money to victims of the Haiti earthquake, and accompanying a classmate to his Leukemia treatments so he wouldn’t be bored and alone.
Noah’s overall goal is to earn USA Freedom Corps’ President’s Lifetime Achievement Award for volunteering over 1,700 hours of community service. Noah, who just completed the fourth grade, is well on his way to achieving his goal! During the past two years, Noah has already volunteered 250 hours.
Congratulations Noah! Keep up the great work! |
