Hats Off to our AFLP Graduates

Our Adolescent Family Life Program (AFLP) held its annual graduation celebration event at John’s Incredible Pizza last week to honor the teen parents who completed their high school education. About 50 students, family, and friends gathered to recognize the graduating class of 2010.

“With the many challenges and responsibilities there are to be a teen parent, it is a real achievement that our students graduate from high school,” says Christy Gorden, AFLP Program Manager. “This is a great achievement to share with your child.”

Jazmin Rodriguez stood out amongst the AFLP graduates this year. Jazmin will be graduating from Cambridge High School this summer. Her goal is to become a lawyer and recently was interviewed to work at a local law office.

“Jazmin has been exceptional to work with these last two years,” added Gorden. “She loved to learn new things, and was eager to learn how to be the best mother she can be and used all the resources provided to her like case management services and teen workshops.”

AFLP provides and ensures the health and well-being of pregnant teens and children are met. AFLP services include parenting workshops, helping teen parents achieve economic and social independence, as well as encouraging teen parents to return to school and achieve their academic goals.

Congratulations AFLP graduates for all your accomplishments!
