| It was scorching last week as Central Valley Health Network (CVHN) and the Fresno Fuego soccer team joined Market on the Mall for a day of fun and festivities. In partnership with CVHN and their Latino Campaign, the Fresno Fuego players assisted with different soccer-based exercises to show how much fun physical activity can be.
Some of the different activities included soccer drills like dribbling and trying to score a goal, exercises such as jumping-jacks and lunges, and hula-hoop competitions. Each activity one would participate in earned them a chance to be entered into drawings for healthy snacks and prizes.
Three Fresno Fuego soccer players also were on hand to meet-and-greet with fans and sign autographs. “Using the popularity of the FIFA World Cup as a promotional tool, it seemed like the right time to bring residents out to Market on the Mall and meet their own soccer stars from the valley,” said Maria Zapata, Community Health Leader for Network for a Healthy California.
“The purpose of this partnership with Fresno Fuego was to inspire healthy eating habits and physical activity to our community that shops at Market on the Mall,” says Jensen Vang, Community Service Manager for Market on the Mall. “We want everyone to know how easy it is to eat right and stay in shape.”
