Neighborhood Youth Center Celebrates
Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

EOC employees, LCC corpsmembers, state representatives, elected officials, and the community gathered Wednesday to celebrate the Neighborhood Youth Center’s (NYC) Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. The ceremony was a great way to showcase NYC to the community we serve.

The ceremony began with words from LCC Director Shawn Riggins and Associate Executive Director Paul McLain-Lugowski. Each took time to introduce and acknowledge key players who made NYC a reality. David Muraki, Director of California Conservation Corps congratulated our Local Conservation Corps for their accomplishments. Our former Executive Director Roger Palomino gave a brief history lesson of the surrounding community and spoke about how NYC will help revitalize the surrounding community.

During a special dedication, Reverend Paul McCoy announced that the new Neighborhood Youth Center would be named after Reverend Edward L. Swillis, for his dedication to our community, his work with community youth, and for his many years as a commissioner on our board.

The ceremony concluded with tours of the new facility.
