| It was a retirement party for the “General”, but it was fit for a Queen. After 29 years of dedicated service, Wilma Austin has announced her retirement as WIC Program Director. WIC and other EOC staff gathered in the EOC Boardroom this week to remember stories and to bid Wilma farewell.
The Boardroom was filled with laughs and tears as Wilma and her WIC staff remembered days gone by through an impressive slideshow, and both current and former WIC staff members shared how Wilma has made an impact on their lives.
Wilma began her career as a WIC Dietician in January 1981. She started with WIC as one of seven employees serving about 2,000 WIC participants. WIC now serves over 35,000 clients with 70 staff members.
When asked about what she would miss most about WIC, Wilma said she would miss her staff most of all.
Thank you Wilma for all you have done and we wish you the best into retirement.
