| There’s a new WIC office in the neighborhood! Last week, our Women, Infants & Children (WIC) program opened its doors at our newest location in northwest Fresno. The new site is located on Ashlan and West avenues at 1426 W. Ashlan, right next to Hungry Howie’s Pizza.
“We are excited to be expanding our services across Fresno County,” says Linda Shelton, WIC Program Director. “We know that transportation is an issue for many of our current and potential WIC clients, and we hope our newest locations are more convenient and easily accessible to those in the surrounding areas.”
Families grow healthy with WIC. The program provides nutrition education, nutrient-rich supplemental food, and health and social service referrals to pregnant mothers, new mothers (breastfeeding and non-breastfeeding), and infants and children up to 5 years of age and younger. Our WIC Program currently serves 35,500 participants.
WIC will be holding a special grand opening on Thursday, September 16, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. The grand openings will be held at its location on Ashlan and West and in southeast Fresno at its location on 4995 E. Kings Canyon Road at Kings Canyon and Willow. This location opened earlier this year. |
