| Sanctuary Outreach to the Streets (SOS) together with EMQ FamiliesFirst gave foster care youth a chance to mingle, laugh, and meet service providers during Sanctuary’s Resources Fair and Youth Talent Show held earlier this month.
“Sadly, some of these kids end up running from their foster care placement,” says Adam Fain, SOS Youth Outreach Worker and event coordinator. “We want them to know more about SOS so, when they see us on the streets, they feel comfortable in approaching us for help,” he adds.
Over 125 attendants learned how to get help and access organizations dedicated to serving youth; the service providers present represented education, employment, housing, health services, and advocacy.
Once the Resources Fair ended, guests entered Sanctuary Theater to enjoy a youth-led talent show. The talent show featured singers, dancers, actors, musicians, rappers, and even a comedian. “The talent show was an avenue for the youth to express themselves in a positive uplifting manner,” says Fain.
In appreciation for all of their hard work and dedication, all the participants were presented with trophies and received a rousing applause. Sanctuary and Youth Services is proud to have hosted an event with other community partners and offer a safe place for youth to showcase their talent! |
