| Young people who once tore down their neighborhoods helped build them back up. Earlier this month, more than 20 Local Conservation Corps volunteers – including Corpsmembers, case and program managers, and LCC’s Director – rolled up their sleeves and helped beautify the neighborhood surrounding our Neighborhood Youth Center (NYC).
“I believe this neighborhood clean-up event empowered our corpsmembers and allowed them to take pride in their neighborhood,” says LCC Director Shawn Riggins. “After spending hours cleaning up beds, clothing, tires, and other debris from their neighborhoods, I’m sure they’ll think twice before littering.”
Along with removing more than 2,220 pounds of trash, volunteers trimmed overgrowing greenery.
LCC would like to thank all of its volunteers on a job well done and would like to extend the invitation to all Agency programs to participate in its next clean-up. The date and time will be announced in the near future. |
