Two young ladies from our Transitional Living Center (TLC) received a dose of what it takes to make it in today’s challenging job market. With the help of My Sister’s Closet Ministry – a project of United Faith Christian Fellowship that empowers and prepares women for entry in the workforce – Michelle and Victoria participated in an all-day workshop where they gained important employment readiness skills ending with a professional work attire fashion show.
Throughout the workshop, both young ladies learned valuable skills in resume writing, interview preparation, and how to “dress for success”. Each participant was fitted in professional work attire, provided hair-cuts and styling by Blunt Designs, received make-up consultations by Mary Kay Cosmetics, and trained how to walk into an interview - and the catwalk - with poise for a fashion show finale.
“I’m thankful Sanctuary and TLC connected me with My Sister’s Closet. It was a very different experience I wouldn’t normally have done, due to my self esteem,” said Michelle, TLC-1 resident and Fresno City College student. By the end of the workshop, Michelle and other workshop participants were ready to leave and take the job market by storm!
