Teaching teens how to make responsible choices that will positively affect their future is at the core of our Sanctuary and Youth Services’ Healthy Decisions series which are being offered by our Adolescent Family Life Program (AFLP), Transitional Living Centers (TLC), and Sanctuary Youth Shelter.
Sanctuary and Youth Services, in collaboration with Barrios Unidos, hosted the eight-week series which targeted teens. The groups participated in sessions that focused on healthy relationships, media pressures, decision-making, self-esteem, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), pregnancy prevention and communication.
AFLP’s sessions, which were open to the community and held at Manchester center, recently came to an end. Those participants received certificates of completion, incentives, and a pizza party.
Sessions are still being offered to our TLC and Youth Shelter clients at each programs’ site, but will conclude at the end of the month. Sanctuary and Youth Services plans to offer the series in early 2012.
