Our School of Unlimited Learning’s (SOUL) Leadership Class remembered the 10 th anniversary and paid homage to the innocent lives lost as a result of the needless acts of terrorism on September 11, 2011.
Students, under the direction of staff members Sam Hairston and Julie Moreno, researched the attacks on our nation and created a PowerPoint presentation with photographs depicting how the events unfolded. The presentation concluded with students reciting a poem titled “We Are One”.
SOUL’s student body was reminded that a sense of unity emerged from that horrible tragedy. When the Twin Towers collapsed, everyone was covered in ash, making us one color; it did not matter the color of our skin, how much money we made, or what language we spoke. Americans grieved together, as one, for the loss of innocent lives and the families left behind. September 11, 2001, changed the way we saw ourselves and one another. On that day, we were all Americans. SOUL students learned that when an unexpected tragedy occurs in our lives, we must not lose hope. Instead, we must rebuild and overcome.
Congratulations to SOUL’s Leadership Class for an excellent presentation to the school, staff, and members of the Agency’s Executive team.
