Name of program: Women, Infants and Children
(WIC)
What is the program’s goal? The purpose
of WIC is to safeguard the health of low-income pregnant,
breastfeeding and post-partum women; infants and children
up to 5 years of age who are at nutritional risk. WIC provides
these women, infants and children with nutritious foods to
supplement diets as well as information on healthy eating
and referrals to health care.
When was the program established at EOC?
In 1972, WIC was part of Federal Pilot Program; however, it
did not become a regular, nation-wide program until 1974.
Who do you help (client base)? Pregnant,
breastfeeding, and post-partum women, infants, and children
up to 5 years old
What are the eligibility requirements? Participants
must be at nutritional risk. They must also meet income guidelines.

make an appointment with a WIC specialist.

a WIC office is also located at 3636 N. First Street, Suite
