| Description |
The Corps-to-Career program provides core
intensive services appropriate to the needs of each participant
such as career counseling, job search, placement, and
job retention assistance. Follow-up services include personal
and workplace counseling for participants after entering
employment. |

Services include: case management, work
experience, on-the-job training, job search, placement
and job retention assistance, job referrals, job development,
workshops, comprehensive and specialized assessment, and
full development of individual employment plans. Individual
counseling, career planning, job retention, and follow-up
services are also offered after placement. |

| Legislative Mandates/Requirements |
The federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA)
of 1998 superseded the Job Training Partnership ACT on
July 1, 2000. Title I of WIA authorizes services for youth,
adults, and laid off workers. |

| Historical Information |
The California Corps-to-Career program
is a statewide approach to youth development implemented
by member corps of the California Association of Local
Conservation Corps (CALCC). Each of the eleven (CALCC)
corps (subgrantees) will enroll 16 participants. |

| Mission |
To promote an increase in the employment,
job retention, earnings and occupational skills improvement
by participants. This, in turn, improves the quality of
the workforce, reduces welfare dependency, and improves
the productivity and competitiveness of the nation. |

| Goals |
Sixteen corpsmembers will be enrolled in
the CCtC WIA program. Participants will receive job readiness
services through intensive case management, career counseling,
job search workshops, full development of individual employment
plans, work experience, resume writing, interview techniques,
job referrals, job placement and retention services, and
follow-up services after placement. |
