Description The Weatherization program provides energy education and installation of energy conservation measures to eligible low-income individuals and families in Fresno County.

Historical Information The Department of Energy (DOE) began funding the Weatherization program in 1976. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) began funding the LIHEAP weatherization program in 1981. Since its inception funding for the weatherization program has grown to include more and more cost effective energy conservation measures, such as energy efficient refrigerators, microwave ovens, compact florescent light bulbs, evaporative cooler repair, and window mounted air conditioners.
   
Mission To humanely focus all available energy conservation resources to assist low-income families and individuals in lowering their energy bills and conserving energy.
   
Goals To install cost effective energy conservation measures in as many homes of low-income families and individuals as possible.
